![]() ![]() I believe this so strongly that it has, probably, been at least ten years since I have fired only one pistol shot at anything. ![]() Consequently, after reading about dozens and dozens of CQB pistol gunfights, I have become a great believer in the efficacy of: tight groups, accurate shot placement, and multiple rapid-fire hits. My own conclusion? I don't completely trust any particular gun or ammunition to give me that quick stop to the action I'd like to have. Apparently Cirillo HAD USED a 12 gauge shotgun on, at least, one occasion, and didn't get the quick result he expected. I'm reminded that Jim Cirillo often said that he didn't like to use a 12 gauge shotgun, and preferred to use his 38 revolvers instead. NOTES: There are, by the way, numerous different tests that can be used in order to test the efficacy of pistol ammunition without resorting to actually shooting people AND there's, also, a very great deal of already published data, as well. Perp shot multiple times 40S&W and 223 still fighting when cuffed - The Firing Line Forums The coroner who did the autopsy remarked that he found feather down in a number of the wounds and, perhaps surprisingly, those multiple Gold Dot hits were mostly very shallow. Though severely wounded this young man was still sitting up and talking when the ambulance arrived to transport him to the hospital where he later died. He was finally brought down by a late arriving officer who used a 5.56mm tactical rifle in order to stop him. ![]() The young man was hit multiple times, (Some reports indicate more than 17 times!) and just kept on returning fire. Now THAT is funny! The worst shooting disaster and failure-to-stop in the history of the Hazleton, PA Police Department involved 3 officers who were firing 180 grain Gold Dots against an 18 year old kid who was firing back at them with a 1911 pistol. ![]()
